Winter Experience - Potter Marsh

Cattails in the frozen marsh
One place worth a stop in any season is Potter's marsh.

Coming up from the South, you know you're in Anchorage and not in the Turnagain Arm when you hit Potter's Marsh on the south side of town.  In the warm season it is a fabulous bird sanctuary; there are elevated board walks and parking lots to give anyone easy access.

In the winter, it takes on a different aspect.  The marsh freezes and snow builds up around the tall grasses.  That in combination with a low sun angle makes for wonderful pictures of dried grasses and ice.
